APRICOT – Prunus armeniaca

Apricot is native to China and Japan but is now cultivated in Asia, North Africa and California.

Apricot was first cultivated in India and China around 3,000 BC. Having been brought along to Armenia through the Silk Road, it has been around since ancient times. In fact, the apricot has been cultivated in Armenia for so long that it is often thought to be native there. Its introduction to Greece is attributed to Alexander the Great.

Apricot is used to soothe inflamed, dehydrated, mature, sensitive and irritated skin.

It has moisturizing and emollient properties.

Dried apricots are sometimes used to relieve constipation or induce diarrhea.

It is used for treatment of respiratory and digestive diseases.
